The other day a friend of my friend asked me while my hood was up, "Is that a V4". Everyone there shook their head in disgust. The other day I was leaving Chili's after lunch and some hick in a mountaineer yells out,"nice fag car!" and speeds off. I've gotten tons of positive comments but there are always some pricks who dont appreciate it.

So Its the saturday between Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
Early morning start and all I manage a rockstar car park in front of the Solarium (yeah I use them) .
Chick behind counter (young hottie) watches as I park. One entering lets out a " I SO love your car."
Me " thanks ....."
Later that evening.... quick visit to maccas. Chick taking my cash.." I love your car....they're so hot". Me "thanks your the second cutie that has said that today" She wasn't cute but I'm a nice guy
The chick I'm working on thinks its cool (so to does her friend)
Two in one day. NFR ROCKS

For some reason, most compliments on my car bother me.
Reason being that I know they are ignorant compliments. Ok, the car looks good. Ok, it's a Porsche.
I dunno, I guess it's like, they can not meaningfully like my car one way or another because they don't know sh^t about it, so how can I feel good about that?
It's like if someone w/ down syndrome (I mean NO OFFENSE) tells you they like your jacket. Are you gonna take that seriously?

I think some of you are looking a gift horse in the mouth.
When someone compliments your car, your clothes, your looks, your wife, or anything else, it should be taken as a compliment, even if they're not an expert on cars, clothes, looks, women, or anything else. Failure to appreciate an honest compliment strikes me as being more than a little unapprecative. Not just unappreciative of the compliments, but unapprecative of the gifts you've been given and the things you've earned.
I decided to buy an S2000 before learning anything about the cars, because I liked the way they drove and was sure they'd make fun autocross cars. Other people like them for other reasons, and most people like the looks of the car even if all they know about cars is that some of them look cool. Looking down your nose at the world just because most of the people there like your car seems a little odd to me.

I got one this weekend when I stopped to get gas. The pump kid was walking up and I heard him yell over to his friend (who was sitting in a civic HB with unpainted hood and front bumper and an exhaust) "This has the F20C!"
I get out to head into the food mart and he says "Ok, so you are driving one of my dream cars" I just chuckled and told him to fill it before heading inside.
Any compliment is appreciated, informed or not. If nothing else, they are good for a laugh.
