What happens is that they see the CCR banner on the side of my car, and they know CCR has several Skylines. Knowing nothing more than that, and not recognizing the S2000 as anything they've ever seen before, they just assume that it must be one of the Nissans.
At the Evolution school two years ago one of the instructors tried to tell Tripper that his R32 was a 240SX. He was dead serious about not registering the car as an R32 or Skyline, because he was so sure they were properly called 240's here in the US.

The fleet cars belong to the partners who own CCR, or are sponsored cars. The partners cars currently include three Skylines, and S15 Silvia, four Miatas, a 350Z, and an S2000. The two show cars (one Miata, one Skyline R33) have been on the show circuit, and have been featured in magazine and local newspaper articles, so they're very well known. Some people see me in my car and think I'm Tommy, because they mistake my car for his show Miata. Others confuse my car with the R33. It's the graphics that confuse them. If it says "CCR" it must be a Skyline or a Miata. Most people (in this area) really don't have a clue. I understand the cause of their confusion, but I still think it's funny.
Honestly, the Skylines are more trouble than they're worth. They're fast, and fun to drive, but certainly no more fun than the other cars in the fleet, and it takes more work to keep them in top condition. All three are probably for sale, if anyone is interested.
