I was just driving along when a 5.0 mustang with this 16yr old kid driving w/ his 13 yr old brother in the passager seat pulled up next to me.
He then down shifted and chirped his tires.
I was like o.k.

We go farther down the road and he does it again.
I take the bait and down shift to.

I imediatly pull him hard.

I then pull into the gas station to gas up and he pulls up next to me and says, " Wow, your the first import I ever lost too."

I was like O.k.

And then he ask me what it redlines at.
I say, "9000 rpms"

Him- " So you shift at 8 k huh?"

Me- " No I shift at 9 k"

Him- " But that's when you start floating valves"

By now I was thinking to myself like yeah maybe floating valves in your 5.0 mustang. lol

Me- "o.k."

Him- " that's a front wheel drive right?"

Me- "No....it's rear wheel drive."

Him- "For real??.....No wonder i always beat my brother in GT 3 when i drive the S2000"

I go on my mary way. lol

Around Atlanta, gas station comments usually amount to "Nice Car".

Since I normally have the top down, I get a lot of that at red lights, too. It sometimes includes a "How fast will it go?"

I've been approached at gas stations more times than I can count over the past 4 years. I always take time to talk cars with them and show them a thing or two about the car.

I remember when a nice owner did the same for me before I could purchase one and I am forever obligated to reciprocate. He also turned me onto S2Ki.com and I still hand out our "calling cards" at every opportunity.

Haha, thanx. It runs in the family as my Uncle was a multi-term Congressman in Suffolk County, NY. Not ALL politicians are scum.

This site has done alot for me and I do what I can, when I can. I'm also proud of my newly acquired CO status. Just trying to figure out how to bring more of the SoCal enthusiasm to the Vegas crew.......

a good one just happend to me while at work.

No one knows i even have an s2000 here cause i ride my bike to work. So my boss comes over to my desk and i close CAD and my desktop comes up, and he sees my wallpaper

Courtesy of diverseasyn

And my boss is like WHOA thats a sweet car, is it yours? im like nope.

Then he was like well thats something to aspire too, laughing, then he says whats that like 80-90 grand.

So, im like no, its just a Honda!

Then he was like "THATS A HONDA!" I thought it was a porshe or something exotic like that!

Did it just come out?

me: no it has been out since 2000

(I tell him the history of s2000 here..............)

He walks away saying, maybe once you get that next big raise you can buy one.

me: laughing inside, waiting to go home, to drive my baby.
