Boka...the exhaust sounds great...in fact when we pulled up next to each other the first thing the other guy said was he loved the sound of my exhaust and the look too. I would say the performance adds some low end torque and hp...nothing huge but the VTEC kick isn't as strong which i assume is because more low end power. not like i've had the car dyno'd

I think the only beetle that would really keep up is one of those pirelli cup racers...a local dealer had one on the lot for show...had big OZ racing wheels, full cage, and a tuned VR6 engine according to the dealer...said it put out about 205hp, which is entirely believable. It was completely stripped...i'm sure that little sucker could run on the track. What's the stock curb weight on a beetle...they're small but porky, right?

Wow....a topic I can finally comment on halfway knowledgeably! I drive a GTI with the same 1.8t engine, and it's a rather impressive little thing. Very torquey. The GTI's and the Beetles are pretty evenly matched, since they weigh about the same. I think Beetles are about 2900 pounds, and GTI's are 2800+. I've seen 0-60's for Beetles at about 7.1 seconds stock. A simple $450 chip mod will give an extra 30+ hp and 35+ ft/lbs of torque. Add an exhaust and intake, and you're pushing 180hp at the wheels, and still with a small amount of money invested.

Now, I'm not saying that they're all going to be as fast as an S2000, but you might want to be a little more wary of them, just in case you find someone who's dumped a lot of money into it....you just might lose to a Beetle if you're not careful! ; )

Dont underestimate the VW MK4's (Jetta,GTI,Beetles)......especially the chipped 1.8T's...In a straight line they can do damage

Swurveydel, my roommate is about to get a new Jetta 1.8T but he claims to beat my ass after he gets it modded. Of couse the stock 1.8T is 180 horses at about 200lbs heavier than the s2k. But neuspeed offers a turbo upgrade to about 280 horses i believe and theres another company that make a T3/T4 turbo kit that claims to produce 300 horses out of a 1.8T so well see about that.
