Default Front Plates, on or off?

Hey guys, I was wondering how many of you have on the front plates on your car?
Any trouble with the law? Whats the fine for not having it?

I especially wanna know from people living in southern california, since thats where I live.

Depends on city you're in in SoCal. Could be $35 - could be slightly more. Fix-it for less or just pay it. It's a crapshoot.

Bay area and I have never had a problem, even after being pulled over three times in my car (got a fix it for the windows though, but from some tool. The other two times I was fine.)

I live in New York City, so my info is not very useful for you. I drove without a front license plate for almost a year until one day I found a ticket behind the wipers. The car was parked at a failed parking meter on the street, so initially, I thought it was about the parking spot, but it turned out to be a $65 fine for no front plate. Paid it and installed my license plate, so now I'm legal.

I drove for two years on the west side in LA... After 15 fix it tickets (only $10 but you have to go to the DMV to get it signed off and then the courthouse to show them the paperwork... half a day at least) I've just mounted the damn thing...

Sucks but that's what you get for living in a democrat controlled nanny-state...

Always off. Bumper plugs on. The car looks like bugs bunny with the front plate in.

I live in san diego and drive without my front plates on both my cars (Stock S and modded scion). I have never been pulled over for not having them. But it was a different story when I had a modded civic. I probably had gotten 6 fix it tickets when I realized that I should just leave the plates on. Fix it tickets are $10 and you need to get them signed off by a police officer. IMO the S looks waaaaayyyyyyyy sexier without the front plates and with the plate plugs.
