the front license plate bracket/holder...what a crock!

I really don't care about scratching a little bit of paint off the bumper. It's behind the plate anyway, not like anyone's going to see it.
Of course, there's those among us who care about scratches on exhaust canisters and stuff.. for those types then the bracket or the Home Depot mod is best. For those looking for the "clean" look and refuse to run a front tag? well then either move to another state that doesn't require it or put it on and deal with it... no sense in getting harassed for not having that plate in the first place

Honestly I just keep it between inside the windshield and dash. I figure cops just assume there's nowhere to put a front plate on it, so my location for it should suffice. I do have Rick's aftermarket bracket but I'm too lazy to install it.

My front plate is mounted to the garage wall.
I did buy a mount for my wife's TSX that we bought used. Found the mount on Ebay for about 1/4 of the dealer price. It was new, in the original plastic!

Now that I finally got my plates for my AP2, I'm planning on mounting magnets to my bumper inside the grill and mounting the front plate there. That way I can remove it for photoshoots and autoX very easily, but still have it on to appease the police.

Here's what mine looks like. It's ziptied to the grille:
I trimmed a little off the top and bottom of the plate, then covered the edges with a thin strip of black duct tape. It's been like that for over 7 years and 157,000 miles.

The Rick's angled bracket is $32 if you don't want to pay dealership prices.
Various reasons.

Someone cure my ignorance, but why do states like California require a front license plates but states like Arizona do not?
