I'm curious if anyone knows the ground clearance differences between just a stock front bumper,
a stock bumper with OEM front lip,
Mugen SS front bumper (the one with the hole for the intake),
and backyard special front lip on a stock bumper?

I'm trying to get an idea since I would like to know how much crying I'm going to be doing after spending well over 2 grand on a mugen SS bumper and watching it get scrapped everyday. Thanks!

 

I don't know the clearance, but just a few days after I bought my 01 S2000, while driving to work on Hwy 13 near Berkeley, a roadkill the size of two big Christmas hams suddenly appeared on the road as I ascended a slight hill at 60 mph. Since I had no time to react (and did not know the capabilities of the car), I ended up running right over it. I had to wait until the next day to bring it to Oakland Honda for an inspection. Their report was that there was no damage, but lots of flesh under the car. I must have bounced upwards after the initial hit. It cost me about $230 for the inspection and the steam-cleaning (at Mr. Ho's detailing). Anyway, the only funny part of this is that another fellow with a yellow S2000 was at the dealership getting a front lip installed. I guess it would have been $630 if I had a front lip. Now when I am parking my car, I wonder if the car is emitting a smell from the exhaust system or is something else cooking?? Anyway, the stock front bumper will probably not clear a standard Christmas ham.

Hmmm. Seems like there aren't too many s2k owners with the Mugen SS front bumper. I'm sure if you call KingMotorsports they'll have your answer. Or try PM'ing scott@kingmotorsports. I'm curious too, since I want to eventually have this front bumper.
