Front Allignment After Clutch Replaced
Hi All - i recently had my clutch replaced by Honda with a standard one , i was informed by them that they had to drop the motor slightly, remove the power steering unit and air conditioning unit.
I picked the car up on Firday and ever since then i have noticed that the steering whell is off centre - basically when im on a staight road the H on the steering wheel is slightly tilted to the left , is it my imagination or could it be so - does it need a wheel alignment check, i have also noticed that the front left electric window does not power automatically when you hold the switch for it to go up or down - AUTO mode - any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thank
Goul

I had the same allignment issue after mine was done and it dorve me crazy.......
The mechanic told me that according to procedure an allignment had to be done, however the dealers don't do it to coax you into one. (he asked me not to say he said this...)
Long story short, they alligned the car and it was fine.

This happened to me a few weeks ago, but the solution is differernt.
Apparantley, it is not necessary to detach the steering knuckle from the steering gearbox anymore. The entire subframe is loosened instead (same as "drop the engine a little bit" ?)
Anyway, there is the possibilty to align the entire subframe assembly when it is re-tightened. When mine was done, this was not done properly.
To correct the problem, the dealer dropped the sub-frame again and re-tightened and voila, the steering wheel was back on center again!
I prefer that than having the steering wheel removed and re-attached or having a front end alignment.

yes, there must be some sort of joint in there, a sort of universal joint I would imagine. The important thing to be aware of is that the steering rod does not have to be disconnected at all in order to get access to remove the clutch.

RT,
I reread your previous post where you say
"The splines may be off one notch at the U-joint they had to disconnect.".
It is exactly this procedure that apparantley no longer is required, by instead loosening and then re-tightening the entire sub-frame assembly.
