Don't worry G1S2K, your last name practically has to be Otobe, Ohba, or Uehara around here to get anyone to believe you, but the upside is that it keeps everyone honest. This is a very informed board.

I hope it's not.....because then essentially Ford is involved in the production of the car.

It must be true. My HONDA mechanic told me about MAZDA manufacturing this LSD a week ago when Ichanged the oil, out of nowhere! We started talking about the car and he remembered my 340ps Peter Farrell RX-7 when he said "U know this is a MAZDA manufactured Diff." Now I don't know if this is manufactured from or in MAZDA, but I know that I never had any diff. problems with my RX-7 as much as I was tweeking it! Believe it these cars can be very fast!!!
One thing that I was impressed though was that he instructed me to change the diff. oil every 10,000 km. not every 20,000 km. When I checked at 650 km. on my odo. the diff. oil was greyish - black! I am going to change it when I reach 5,000 km. with probably CASTROL HYP LS SAE 90 GL5+.

Our car now has a Kaaz LSD in it, plus we made some prototype straps to reinforce the caps that retain the ring gear and differential. These caps were the pieces that failed previously. The car is supposed to head back to LA this week to finish the magazine articles. Hopefully they won't break it this time. Shall we all keep our fingers crossed on this?

As for the Mazda rear ends, I'm running a bone stock Miata R rear end in my E-mod autocross car. The car weighs 1800 lbs., has a turbo RX7 engine running 14 lb. boost and runs on 10" wide slicks. So far the only problem with the rear end was when I collapsed the torque arm. Absolutely no problems with the gears or the LSD unit.
