I searched around for a thread like this...
I just came from a '94 RX7 and in the community the worst intake to use is with a foam filter. The extra heat found in a FD engine bay cooks the foam filters and makes them really brittle. Sooner or later pieces of foam will break off and suck them into the engine. Just wondering if it is an issue in s2k's?
**edit** Due to the job I have, I need to buy a CARB legal intake so I am either limited to the Comptech or the AEM. I am leaning towards the Comptech and I can just find a replacement filter for it.

As long as you use the right oil, you should be fine. It's the oil that traps the little micron of dirt. Service the filter every other oil change, just so the oil on the filter doesn't dry out.
