Default Foam air filters...

I have a comptech intake with the comptech airfilter and I was told that foam filters dont filter out dirt and other contaminents very well. Is this true? Also anyone know how well the comptech filter filters?

I emailed Comptech asking them why they choose the UNI filter over a K&N or similar but never heard back from them. I have the Comptech intake, but have never really been a fan of foam filters. It looks like it would be pretty easy to get a K&N in the box though.

anyone have a K&N in they comptech intake? Anyone know anything about comptech foam filters

From what I read, the foam isnt as good as the K&N style for one reason. Foam is made up of many uneven little "craters" and these little craters make the air turbulent. Basically, foam isnt considered "high flow."

I have the Comptech CAI. I looked into other filters to use. I do not believe K&N makes one that will fit. I also looked at green Filters and found the same thing. I did read somehwere on here that AFE Filters does make one that fits. I cannot remember the number but if you go to their website or AJUSA you plug in the measurements taken from the Comptech foam filter and it will tell you the model number to order. It does say that these are not CARB approved and for race only.

Why are they race only or why are they not carb legal?

I spoke with some lady at AFE and she could not really explain it very well to me.

I have a AFE filter on my comptec, measure the old foam filter, go to there website and punch in the numbers. you need to get the shorter one. modified velocity stack. also, K&N should have the right size, or dont they?

there was a comparision and the based on it , the cotton gauge performed better than the foam. better filtration with high flow
