Floor Jack. *Suggestions*
#21
sorry to revive this thread, but which of the jacks you all suggested here will allow for raising the front center jack point on a stock s2000 without using wood planks? weight's not really an issue, but if i'm dishing out money for a jack, i'd rather not have to deal with extra steps to raise my car but just buy one that will do it in one step.

jack the car up a few inches with the stock jack and then move the floor jack in to raise the car the rest of the way.

Caution!! AC jacks are not cheap and they are not light.

The AC DK13HLQ reaches it at stock ride height without planks. It's pretty much the only jack that's long enough and low enough over its entire length to reach. As mentioned above, it is not particularly light, maneuverable, and it is fairly high effort to lift the car because the ratio of the handle length to lever arm length is approximately backwards of a normal harbor freight type jack. But it is excellent quality and very convenient to be able to reach the center lift point without planks.

thanks for all the inputs... i can see why so many of you prefer the planks or use the spare tire jack - the only jack that provides the luxury of a one step lift costs $400!!!! $400 jack or $10 planks???? hmmm...

Here's what I use: http://www.tooltopia.com/index.asp?PageAct...OD&ProdID=11737
It isn't light, but it fits all the way under both ends of the car so you can lift either VERY quickly. And, it only takes about 10 full pumps of the handle to go from low to high.

I'm lowered on PSS9's with about 3.45" frame clearance and I can even jack up the rear from the diff without hitting the bumper (not easy, but can be done)...so this works perfect for me:
also, does it release slowly, or is it like a race jack and just drop the car???
