I'm leaving mine as is - basically just treating it as though the feature was not there - probably have more problems bringing it in to be fixed. The dealer's service dept is not going to get to work on the car unless there is something majorly wrong...

I thought I had figured it out, but I am not entirely sure. Mine seems to work great if my door is open or if my top is down and I use the feature (a couple of times I have had to take a call while driving with the top down). Anyway, I was thinking it must be the friction between the window and the rear seal of the top. I figured I had made that friction worse or stickier because I got my windows tinted within the first week of owning my car (tinting is NOT an option in "Sunny Florida"). Any thoughts on this? Is there something we can put on the seal that won't hurt it, but will make it more slippery? I know it will also get on the glass, but when the window is up you won't see it because it is up against the seal, and when the window is down you won't see it then either! I am thinking of maybe putting Vaseline or something on the seal. Yes? No?

i just had the regulator replaced and it has fixed the problem. we will see how long it lasts. don't let them replace the switch as it will not fix the problem.

The driver's windows on my 02 has started intermittently refusing to go down more than a couple of inches or so, much like people were talking about in this old thread.

The dealer I talked to said the TSB calls for replacing the regulator; people here complained that didn't fix it.

Does anyone have any new news on this? Is the regulator now "fixed" somehow?

Our 2000 works fine and has for the last 35000 miles. The 2001 developed the problem recently and I blame it on my reading this thread! When the problem first started, I noticed that the window does not move smoothly down the track (when you hold the switch and watch it go down) and it stopped in the same place all the time. Right where it "glitched" when you were holding the switch. This caused me to speculate that there is some kind of current sensing clutch that was being prematurely being tripped by some kind of glitch in the track (ie physical problem). However, now it seems to stop in random places and I'm now thinking that it may be electrical in nature. I'm planning on fixing mine at the same time as the spark plug recall.

I just took mine in for several things and the window regulator was one of them. It was replaced and that was 1000 miles ago. It works great so far. The new regulator seems to drop the window faster than the old one did. The dealer told me that there was a new TSB to fix this problem, whatever that means.
