Default A "fix" for auto window down function?

I was wondering about the intermittent functioning aspect of many people's (mine included) driver's auto window down, even those who have had the regulator replaced.

I realized I sometimes would push the switch all the way down and "ride" it until the window is all the way down, not remembering the auto down aspect. The function might stop working after such use.

After getting the "switch" to work, I now let go of the switch whenever I push it all the way down; only one click is used if I want partial down, and have also used only one click to ride the window all the way down at times.

So far, the window works fine!!!

If others who have this problem would try this and see if the window works OK, our community might benefit from this knowledge.

It is a hassle trying to remember not to hold the double click as the window goes all the way down, but this may be the only thing going for those who have this problem, at least at this time.

Hi

There is no fix. What Honda does is authorize the replacement of the defective auto-down actuator unit with another defective auto-down actuator unit. I am now on my second and they are about to put in a third. It's sort of like the power antenna mast problem with 1987-1995 Legends. HONDA NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM - simply swapped defective for defective units until the owner gave up or until the warranty ran out.

I understand your frustration since you're on your 3rd window motor, but why do you say they are "defective". Many of us (knock on wood ) have not had a problem. I think that Prolene is trying to diagnose the problem and it may be worthwhile to think of how you actuate your window down function. As for myself, I do not "ride" the switch.

My early '00 S2000's auto-down works just fine with just one push of the button. Several other owners in my area with '00 models have had nothing but problems with their window regulators.

It must be extremely frustrating. I feel very lucky not having to deal with this annoyance.

Hopefully, Honda will find a working actuator for you soon!

I agree with 2x6spds on this. This is probably the most wide spread single problem this car has. Even the Honda tech guy posted that bad parts were replacing bad parts but that the problem was being resolved. I think he goes by "woodwork".

I am just happy that is the only problem I have had with my car in a year and a half and 17,000 miles.

I had my regulator replaced last week under I think what is TSB 138. I'm anxious to see how long it remains fixed (maybe I'll be lucky).

WOW!! I didn't know that this was such a problem. I've had my car for over 2 years now, and have never experienced the problems with the auto down. I usually have the windwos down most of the time. Since I barely use the auto down function, maybe that's why I've been lucky and haven't had any problems.

I am having problem with the auto down feature....sometime it works....sometime it doesn't...but most of the time if does. Well, I only have about 4000 miles on it...and about ten months old....I'll wait a little longer before going to the dealer to have it replaced....hopefully by then the new part will not be defective.

hehehe

I have a Jan 2000 vintage (20,000 miles) and the window problem comes and goes. Right now it's at the point where sometimes it hangs up during the top down function.... that I don't like. I have only been to the dealer once, for the first oil change , so everyting else is still smelling like roses! I'm afraid if I go there to get something worked on I'll regret it. So I live with the small problems.
I have a Alfa Spider and a Triumph TR6 so I am used to lots of problems.... and fixing them myself.

I just had to chime in on this. I didn't know that others were having a problem with it (I thought it might have been some clumsiness when I installed my speakers in my door). It doesn't work sometimes for me, but more interestingly, it rolls the window down about half way when I use the roof retract switch.

Maybe I will get this checked out. As soon as I get my turbo baby back from speedcraft.
