First Time @ 100 MPH

Hit 100 for the first time today, so I thought I'd finally post my first thread on this board.
My S2K is the first sports car I've ever owned, and certainly the first car I've owned where I'd seriously consider approaching 100. That and the fact that I'm in my mid-30's so I've left my immortal years well behind me, unlike some on this board who'd hit 100 going to the 7-11 for a coke! (Not that I don't love to read the threads about it!) So getting out of the 80's is not something I tend to do on a daily basis. VTEC yes; 90+ no.
I was on route 250 west of Richmond today and found a stretch of road that was arrow straight and flat for about a mile. Better yet, I was the only one on the road so the only other creatures I might put in danger were the bugs who were about to mar my finish.
I stepped on the gas, and at 80 put my other hand on the wheel. My heart started to get into it after 90 and a great smile broke out on my face at seeing that third digit light up.
I'll definitely have to make it a point to get out there more often.

Congratulations! Now that you have had a taste you will want to do again soon. There is nothing wrong with being safe when driving - its the right way to be and it is our responsibility.
VTEC gives an experience to remember and you will enjoy it more and more. So if you find a good stretch of road, you should go for it. Lord knows I do every chance I can. Which happens to be almost every day.

Welcome to the forum. So you're in your mid-thirties and you've left you immortal years behind? I guess mine have been gone for over twenty years. Drive safe, enjoy your car and come back often. I think you'll find this to be a friendly and informative forum.

Unfortunately there are those on this board that won't be impressed unless you hit 100 in a school zone

Silver s2- try it without going into VTEC- it can be done, but it takes longer- I hit 100 indicated on my breakin drive without going over 5500RPM.

I hit 100 without going into VTEC. I thought about it, but decided to see what the car would do without it. It pushed me into the seat just fine without it so I didn't see the need. Maybe next time.
By the way Le Car, what I meant was that I only had one hand on the steering wheel until I reached 80, at which point I started to use two.
I honestly don't see myself hitting 150 unless I get on an oval track somewhere and my wife isn't in the same time zone!
