Airgate was delayed by a traffic mess on I-95, so we got a late start and ran out of daylight before we could take photos of his car with the new diffusers installed, but these photos will give you a head start. Airgate is at a meet in Richmond tomorrow, so there should be many more photos coming.
Here's the man holding the clear in eager anticipation.
The headlamps go into the oven. That's James Yang, who did the conversion and makes this tricky job look easy. His recipe? Bake for 20 minutes at 225 degrees, and baste with WD40 every five minutes
Here's James with the clear diffuser fit over the reflector, which has been removed from the housing. The clear diffuser didn't fit perfectly at first (the curvature was a bit off) and we panicked. Then we discovered that the plastic is a bit pliable and you can bend it without any risk of breaking it. So James just gave it a little tuck and it fit perfectly.
A final comparison of the old and new before fitting the lamps back on the car.
James finished fitting the lamps back on the car just as the sun was setting, so these shots were lit with flash. The blue tint in the lens is from the high intensity blue turn signal bulbs James mounted, which emit a very white light that almost perfectly match the color of the HIDs. I liked the pure white color of the blue bulbs so much I'm going to install them on my car.
We all decided we liked the look of the US diffuser in clear better than the JDM/EDM. It's got a more aggressive look, for sure, and looks more distinctive.
More tomorrow night from Airgate, I'm sure.

The PolarG B1 hybrid hyper whites are one of the best ones you can get. In my last prelude, I had them everywhere:
in the headlight housing
in the dome light (interior)
in the truck
for license plate light
pure hyper white, no rice blue at all.
