Years ago I owned a Datsun Fairlady 1600 two seater and still consider it one of the best cars I've ever owned. Based on my experience with the 1600 ,I came very close buying a 240Z but as fate would have it, I bought a new Vette. With the intro of the 260z I totally lost all interest in the new Nisson's and never considered the purchase of one since. When I look back, I was pretty much spoiled by TR4/6's and the S is as close as one gan get (reasonably) these days.

That would probably be a bicycle then.

Hmm all totaly different cars man. Depends what u want straight line 370Z or a Evo not a S2000. But if u want the car that is the most fun but not the fastest that u can put the top down and don't have to carry alot get the S2000. Now if u need more room and want to mod the car go with the EVO but not the Evo10 it feels like a fat pig i have drove them before go with a Evo9 if u must have more room and 4 doors. Now say ur a single guy don't need alot of room and want a sexy sports car the 370Z and S2000 are perfect just the Z has no tops down and is not as good in the corners but has more TQ for the straights. I have not drove one yet i love the looks after seeing it in person but the S is still the funnest car i have had. Owe i use to own a Evo8 and a Cobra so i had the turbo and TQ fun still love the S more hope this helps

How do you like your CR compared to a normal AP2? I'm going to be driving one tomorrow!

fwiw, a friend of mine just bought a 2009 Corvette for $39k. Not too far off your budget. I had a C5 Z06 in the past and I sold it because I hated how badly it felt. Engine sound and pull were top notch, but it felt like a yacht. I was really surprised when I drove my friend's '09 vette, because it felt like a whole different car. Almost felt like an S2000 with an LS3, amazing how they've made the car feel so much smaller, lower, and tighter than the C5.

Anyways, don't mean to derail, just wanted to throw that in there

For me it was night and day. I love both but the CR is more stable also better tires but u can always add those. Um i also like the intierior and hard top is cool and not so cool when i want to take it off. All in all i would say the CR is more of a pure track car but im considering selling mine sometimes and buying a used ap2. The only thing i hate is how much it cost me and that its a pain to take the top off every thing else is great.

I think you need a couple nice S2000 pictures in this thread, for comparison of course. Here are a few I found on the web:
