Even if roadster sales are down for other companies it's surprising to see a August sales down 16.9% when compared to the same month last year. Particularly when Honda made the effort to "improve" the car for 2004. Maybe losing the 9000 RPM redline and 120 Hp/liter has turned away some potential sales from previous owners from trading in their 2000-2001 model.
Personally, I like all the changes that Honda made with the styling, the wheels, the interior etc. but losing a 1000 RPM's in VTEC is a pretty big deal. Honda should have made VTEC kick in at least 500 RPM sooner, you may not get that big surge in power but if you look at the dyno plot hitting VTEC sooner will increase overall area under the curve which means more overall power from the engine.
