oh as for your question about the leds flickering, i think it may be due to the fact that you're only using 1 resistor rather than 1 resistor per led. And also, I would only imagine it happen at idle and not when your rpms are up a lil higher so the alternator runs faster right?

What LEDs are you using, and how are they driven? (i.e. what voltage are they, are they in series or parallel, each with series resistors etc.?) I'll have a think about the flickering.
