Tough break! I feel for ya. I got back into while my car was parked and I was in a store. Came out and a witness had seen the whole thing and took down the licence # and was willing to go on the police report. I tracked her down with the help of a policeman I worked with. I sent the "perp" a bill for the repair and my time. She paid cash so her insurance wouldn't be affected.
GO GET HIM!

I was rear ended bad about two months ago. Even though it was a small hit, it still hurts to see your car like that.

Sorry to hear about that. As mentioned by others, the bumpers do not come pre-painted. Even if they did, it still wouldn't match the rest of your body color.

thanks for the responses. tomorrow im going to get a full estimate from that well-knownlocal body shop(dv autobody) . the guy gave me his business card and he even lives in my own neighborhood. he will pay me in cash for all damages.

anyways, the damage isn't that bad. i showed some of my friends and they couldn't see anything even if they were 1 foot away. but up close you can definately see it. there are deep lines(from the guys front license plate holder) and small scratches. its not that bad, but enough to annoy me(since i know its there). either way the bumper HAS to be replaced and repainted.

never been rear ended but i get nervous all the time when driving and big ass SUVS or trucks are following too close, knowing that their braking abilities aren't up to par. if i got cut off at any minute i know taht their car would run straight into my arse

Xviper,

It's funny you mention the insurance piece. I have almost decided to take 500 cash (to buy a new bumper) in the event I get slightly rear ended. Do you think that is ill advised?

I am 23 so any accident (at fault or not), will practially bury me in insurance world.
