finally happed to me - dealer forgot the oil cap
I had been read horror stories about dealers and oil change places and I thought to myself that I'm lucky that none of those things happen to me. but it was just matter of time. I had oil change done at Schaller Honda, CT 2 days ago. normally, I would have opend the hood and make sure everything is ok but it was pouring that day and I just got in the car and drove home. today, while driving, I kept smelling gas and I thought it was from other cars and cursing them for driving junks. after a while however, the smell was not going away and the car did not feel right. I pull into a parking lot and open the hood and sure enough, the oil cap is missing. luckily I found it on the side. I did not see huge splash marks or oil stains. oil level seemed ok. will have to call the dealer tomorrow.
lessen? ALWAYS check your car after picking it up.

I got in my car one day and it sounded different, checked the exhaust, drove it, still couldn't figure out why it sounded different. The next day same thing, so I looked under the hood and yep! oil cap came off. Now I think it worked itself loose after a track event, not much oil loss, but I make sure I put it on real tight now.

Hey guys,
I read this on the board once, but if the rubber washer falls off of the cap and is placed on the engine the cap may eventually fall out by the vibrations of the engine. It happened to me and I saw that the rubber washer was no where to be found. So check to see the rubber is still there...
