Default Finally figured out how to shift smooth...

I've owned this car since November and never learned to shift smoothly. Some days it was cake, other days I'd stall it out. I never could understand it because I've driven tons of manuals along with some pure beater jeeps that you couldn't hold the clutch in for more than 10 seconds without your leg spazzing out. I just chalked it up to being a sensitive clutch with limited travel.

Well since my floor mats were looking pretty ratty from my heel catching it every time I pushed the clutch in, I decided to just remove them. VOILA...I can drive like a champ again. After two days of driving, it seems like no matter how fast I am on and off the clutch, it's smoother than before when I was being careful. I guess my heel catching the mat was really throwing me off.
P.S. just for sh*ts and giggles I had to try and I can heel toe much easier now because before I had to throw my knee way out of whack just to clear my heel.

Watch for wear on the interior carpet. Where your heel rubs now. Others have put a hole in their carpet after removing the mat.

My S drives nothing like a sedan in my eyes. I can shift my brother Mazda 3 and my dads Accord smoother than a lot of automatics. A lot of times the S would kick and buck like the clutch bounced off the plate and re-engaged. I know it's not me pumping the gas because I tried to mimic the issue just to make sure it wasn't that.

crazy... my civic is way easier to drive smoothly. the S2k clutch is way less forgiving.

If you think an S2000 or any Honda is hard to drive manual, go drive a Porsche or Vette and then compare. Hondas are like driving marshmellows in comparison!

I have a hard time seeing how a floor mat can hamper shifting too, but to each his own.

Hell even the G35 is alot harder on your legs than the s2k... this thing is one of the easier cars out there to drive.

When my car was in for service last week, I got a new Civic for the time being... Clutch feel was indeed very identical, only our gearbox is waaayyyyyyy better and shorter and direct
