I have been following the threads closely. It appears most favor the OEM S02s, but for rainy areas, many are trying to wait for S03s. If cannot wait, I understand the Michelin Pilot Sports are good. My rears are almost bare and I too must choose real soon.

OEM S-02s seem to remain the best choice for ultimate dry grip.

AVS Intermediates seem to be a good low cost alternative.

I've heard positive things about the Dunlop SP9000s and 8000s too.

The RE730s and ECTSA712s are both bad choices IMHO!

I agree... the RE730's cannot suck enough! I had 17" wider, lower profile RE730's and they didn't corner nearly as quickly as the stock 16" SO-2's....the AVS Sports in 17" are slighly better than stock S0-2's for dry cornering.

I don't attempt heroic moves in the wet...that usually gets ya a close up of a guardrail.

TIMMY!

AVS Sports are my choice for dry conditions. Don't mess with the wet stuff.

I've got SP8000's on for >2000 miles now and like them very much. For the type of driving I do (mostly highway - <5% "performance" driving) they rock since my S is a dialy driver. If I were using it mostly for weekends/track type stuff would I get the SP8000s? NO! Then stick with S02s. I have spoken to someone with the Pilots on who absolutely hated them - slippery and loud were his words.

I can't help but drive in the rain as my Stook is my daily driver. My experience with the OEM S02s is that they are terrible on wet roads. I therefore must get tires that are better on wet, even if there is some sacrifice on the dry.

How do the SP8000s do in the wet?
