it's actually the kia (sportage) 4.77 gear you're thinking of. i'll move this to S2000talk. you can get the gear from www.ricks2k.com. they sell it for about the same price a dealership might offer, if the dealership decides to not rape and pillage you on the price.

the miata was a 4.44 gear I believe. however, they really don't make that particular gearset anymore from what I understand.

I know the kia is the 4.77 gearset. the 4.44 from the miata, the 4.56 from rick's, and the 4.77 from the kia are the most common gearsets for the S2000.

and that's great you work for honda, but you're not gonna get the gear for any less than their cost. and there is very little markup on the gearset, so unless you can find a dealership willing to sell it to you at their own loss, just under $300 is what you're gonna pay anyways. rick's also sells the gear for $300.

We used to sell the 4.77 for 300. Since the price increased, and the supply and demand dropped. We stopped selling them. Dealer cost is well over 400 now. And Honda sells the 4.10 (Stock) gear for 500+

you're thinking of the richmond 4.57 gears. those cost 590. they also cannot be bought at a dealership, nor are they from another car.

as stratocoaster said, when they had them, rick's sold the 4.77 gears for only $300.
