I have an admission to make. Many years ago in Calif. , I pulled into a full service station and sat in my car waiting for the attendent to appear and begin pumping. I sat there for 3-4 minutes and then began to look around to determine what the holdup was. I could see this guy through the plate glass window talking on the phone so I sat for another 3-4 minutes. The guy is still talking so I get out and begin pumping myself. When I finished, I got back into my car and sat for another 3 minutes or so, then started my car. He's still sitting there on the phone lookin at me and I was lookin at him.I let the car idle for a minute or so then took another glance at him on the phone then drove off without paying.
Thanks for allowing me to get this off my chest and hoping the Lord will forgive me.I have already forgiven myself

I check my mileage with every tank of gas and I can usually predict quite accurately what my MPG will be for that tank of gas. When it's off by a lot - especially if it's more than my tank will hold - I never go back to that gas station again.

You were ripped off.
I agree. I remember on the news, there were stations in NJ that got busted a few years back. It happens more than we think.

Anyway, I grew up and lived in New Jersey for many years. I even lived in Oregon for 6 months as well, so I remember those days of not pumping your own gas. it does create jobs, so it's a good thing IMO.

I also don't blame him for not wanting to get stuck parking his car in Camden.

So I'm guessing the tank is 14 gallons? I usually fill to 12-12.8 gallons - and that's when it's down to zero bars!! Why is my tank telling me I have no gas when there is really over a gallon left? I seriously hate this gas gauge. That's like my girlfriend setting her clock 15 minutes fast because she thinks it'll help her be on time (it has no effect).

Just tell me how much gas is actually in the tank please!

You are one brave soldier.

And I was cheated as I noticed residue under the gas lid when the car got dirty from a drive today. So that meant the attendant spilled but quietly wiped off w/o me knowing . No more filling in Jersey unless I have to. Even then, I'll be watching the whole process from now on.

Its nice not pumping you gas. you dont have to get out of your car, you just pay the dude tell him what you want and leave. very simple and it creates lots of jobs.

yeah gas pumps can be miscalibrated.. Also they will vary depending what temperature they were calibrated at.. Up here, most pumps are calibrated around 15*C IIRC, so you get more or less gas depending on the temperature when you fill up

I guess my 4.77s are eating gas away lol

Ive actually ran out of gas, on the way to the gas station and had to push it. Filled up to just under 12.5 gallons

And you guys' MPGs are crazy, either the difference between an 8yr old AP1 w/ a decent amount of mods and shorter gearing just demolishes your MPGs or a lot of you dont have enough fun in your cars. The most ive ever gotten out of a tank of gas (running around with no bars showing) was like 260 miles on the freeway. City driving I vary between 16-22mpg. Lately its been pretty bad, a consistent 16-19mpg, but its also been consistently like 106 degrees and humid as hell down here in Texas
