A few general questions
hi guys, well i just had a few general questions about the s2000 since im going to be picking up a car in a short while. Like a lot of people coming by here im having a problem deciding between the s2k and 350z. After reading a lot of the posts already up i just had a couple questions since i already asked a few before tongue.gif
well my questions are all concerning the soft top. If someone (for God knows why) came and decided to puncture it or slash it how will we go about fixing it? How much would it cost? and if it were a small slit, could we just patch it up somehow since if i get the s2k im planning on getting the hardtop for all season use besides summer smile.gif
And a nother question concerning the soft top. Is it hard cleaning it? For example bird droppings and what not? Also, since i live in Canada if i DO decide not to buy a hardtop and stick with the soft top, is it hard to clean off the salt water that may splash and leave stains (is this even a problem?)?
well thankz in advance for any help biggrin.gif

I don't know about repairing the top, but I do know its easy to clean. I drive mine through winter and we get a lot of salt. It comes clear no problem. I've also has no problem getting off bird shit with just soap and water.
If you get tough stains, you can buy some VINYL soft top cleaner. Also, to keep the top in good shape, pickup some vilyn soft top protectant. This will restore color, stop UV rays, and protect from the elements. A popular choice for both the products I listed are the offerings from Raggtopp or 303.
do not let your fears associated with the softtop stop you from buying the better car

Yes, the soft top can be repaired, or even replaced -- all at a price. The S2000 is not the first convertable to be sold in Canada, and I'm sure it will not be the last. So seems other convertables were able to survive the Canadian winters, I don't think the S2000 will be any different.
In fact, many of the members here live in Canada (such as xviper). There is a Toronto local forum, and there is a Northwest local forum that includes British Columbia. So depending on which part of Canada you live near, you may want to post your concerns to those local forums to get a better feel of how other Canadian S2000 owners managed with the convertable top.
Good luck with your decisions.

Just how big is this island of Canada? And do you have a lot of hurricanes in Canada? I had no idea that living in Canada automatically put you so close to the splashing salt water.
Imagine the concept.........
People, living in different places with different lives other than people living in Cali.
