i'm certain none of us support black market practices and it's not necessary to continually harp about it for the duration of this thread. i think these high moral ethics should be taken over to craigslist or ebay where the real shady stuff is going on...

Are you that naive or just in denial? The car may have been under the possesion of NADE to be auctioned off but it did NOT belong to NADE. The owner was the dealer who dropped it off to be auctioned off. NADE (or any other auction house) does not return the cars to stock. It's not their cars and they don't get paid for it, so why would they? They auction off the cars the same exact way the dealer drop them off, which in many cases are trade-ins with a bunch of aftermarket parts on them. And do you think any company is going to go through the trouble of delaying a sale, accumulating more interest, and wasting time and money on car storage and labor from ordering and installing a stock shift knob? Like it makes that much difference when selling a car? Stop fooling yourself. You bought a stolen shiftknob.

A lot of stuff gets stolen off my cars at Manheim - knobs, manuals, floormats, spare keys, radio faceplates, etc. That stuff adds up quickly
We take all the books, extra keys, fobs and knobs off and out of the Lexus, benz's porsche's etc... we sell at manheim, everyone steals them and sells them on ebay. It is a real pain in the ass.

^ Wow seriously. So I suppose just because it was simply a shift knob that its ok if it was stolen. By that logic anything you deem "inexpensive" is ok to steal. And just because its cheap to replace doesn't mean its ok to be taken. Somebody, somewhere has to pay to replace it. Give me a break. I know for a FACT if I knew it was stolen I wouldn't buy it. I have had stuff stolen from me ipod and what not, and it pisses me right the f*** off.
I meant if you thought that the seller of the knob was legit.

I doubt anyone would ask the seller "OMFG IS THIS THING STOLEN OMGWTF?!?!" before they purchased it.
