The fear of my S2000 breaking
#21
If you are that worried about it, why not buy an extended warranty? When I bought my s2k a few months ago I picked up an extended warranty through my credit union for about $1600 (6 years or 100,000 miles). Well worth the peace of mind in my opinion.

I don't have the exact numbers of these cars in existence in the world today, but certain people really ought to have bought a Lexus. So you hear about someone having broken a rear diff and all of a sudden, ALL S2000s are going to break their rear diffs. I'm not even going to go into this clutch buzz thing. IT'S JUST A NOISE! But because a few people out of what 50,000 to 60,000 owners report about this buzz, all of sudden, this is a PROBLEM and the clutch is going to go on ALL S2000s.
You hear about the 1 - 2 grind. If you were to go back to the very first time that this was posted and search out and number each post where someone posted this, I wonder if you'd work your way up to 1000. Now, let's see ................... That's a possible 1000 (I say "possible" because it's been determined that many of these are driver error) out of 50,000 cars. All of sudden, the trannies of ALL S2000s will fall out. That's the trouble with threads like those (and threads like this), once a few people start talking about their peculiar "problem", we get people coming out of the woodwork "thinking" they might have the same "problem" too and with many cases, we have concluded that there was never anything wrong with the car at all. It's the typical "lemmings over the cliff" scenario.
I think this thread should have been titled ...........................
P A R A N O I A !!!
or maybe ..........................
VEHICULAR HYPOCHONDRIA!
PS. WAIT! Maybe I shouldn't have used the Lexus example. I'm sure there is a movement in the Lexus owner's camp where a few people have experienced problems and now a few Lexus owners worry that their car is about to exploded too.

Anyone want to comment? Am I freaking out for no reason?
Go enjoy your car. If you don't rev it you're not enjoying it's true potential.
