Fast Shifting from 1st to 2nd gear RPM levels?
Hope all is well.
For my AP1: When I shift from 1st gear( 9k RPM) to 2nd gear, I catch into second gear at higher RPM ( around 6500) . Should I be shifting into 2nd gear to catch around 5k rpm?
When i shift from 1st to 2nd: I always full disengage the accelerator push clutch to the floor, then shift. releasing the clutch fully before accelerating.
When going fast: What the correct RPM level from 1st to 2nd? proper method?
Thanks

I suspect you're asking about drag racing?
Maximum acceleration requires maximum power and that requires keeping the engine on the high power VTEC cam which is 6000rpm on an untuned engine. Pretty much have to run to red line to do this. Lowering the VTEC engagement allows the engine to remain on the high power cam much easier.
But shifting at this point is rarely needed and you can up shift at much lower rpm.
From my owner's manual (and yours):

From my owner's manual (and yours):
Drive in the highest gear that lets
the engine run and accelerate
smoothly. This will give you good
fuel economy and effective
emissions control. The following
shift points are recommended:
Shift Up Normal Acceleration
1st to 2nd 15 mph (24 km/h)
2nd to 3rd 25 mph (40 km/h)
3rd to 4th 40 mph (64 km/h)
4th to 5th 47 mph (75 km/h)
5th to 6th 52 mph (83 km/h)

Thanks for the info,
the main reason i am asking, the car grabs hard when shifting quick to second, but if i wait just a little to rpm drop when releasing the clutch on 2nd, it get a smoother grab and then i floor it.
