I'm going to start designing a cold air intake "possiby dual feed" this week and want to do it in the fake vents.
At glance it looks as though they are molded into the bumper and were just excluded from the factory paint job.
Does anyone know if they are removable (snap fit, screws...)or should I get out my Dremel tool???

RoadTrip,
Bust out your dremel because they are fused to the bumper. There are holes on the front left and right side of the engine bay frame that goes to the compartment behind the fake vents...but some wiring and some of the HID headlight housing blocks a true path to the area behind the fake air vents.

Mike,
we need to talk and meet each other face to face. There are some ideas that I have for you with some design specs, not only on cold air ducting, but also venting ideas for the brakes.

Here is an intake that I had Jerry from PRM Racing make for me. It sucks in cold feed from the hole in the fender. It works EXCELLENT, and no water worries.

Why can't someone make ducts from fiberglass or molded plastic. CF is a tad overkill for a part that has no structural function.

Looking at this picture, it seems like you could take a road hazard cone and cut it to shape, and spraypaint the inside black. It won't be perfect, but it will do the job well enough...and it will still look cool.

The front "faux" vents are the same piece of plastic as the bumper... they just aren't painted body color. I had to cut them out with a dremel...
There is no good routes for intake piping other than from down below... I have two filters that are fed right behind my cut-out vents.
I'll be removing this custom itake because I dyno-ed exactly the same with Comptech's box and with my custom intake...
Maybe N/A will benefit from a cold-air intake but the S/C does not...
