Fake Spoon/Mugen Exhusts?
has anybody heard anythign about fake Spoon of Mugen exhusts out there on the market? (I'm in Vancouver, BC btw)
when i bought my Spoon N1 USED last year, my friends who are in the industry told me that my exhust was probably fake, B/C
1. I bought the Spoon N1 used from a guy, who had a reciept from Baveria, who is NOT an official Spoon reseller
2. there was no certificate of authenticity
3. no orginal box or packaging
They also said that every exhust from Japan has the JASMA (Japan Automotive Sports Muffler Association) ID or logo or somthign stamped on it.
Therefore, they concluded that there is a high possibility that mine is a fake, even if it sounds and feels almost like it. They have claimed it is quite easy to fake the exhust sound with resonators and have seen a fake Mugen and real Mugen side by side and it was hard to tell the difference.
Any thoughts?

wow, i honestly dont even know what to say. I doubt its not fake. there are tons of resellers who bring in Spoon from Japan and bypass the US distribtutors. I know in taiwan they make fake spoon mufflers and mugen mufflers, as far as a full catback unit, taiwan would expect at least 50 pieces in order for them to make the JIG for the pipes. Unless some guy bought fake spoon mufflers and decided to take it to a mandrel bending shop and make the piping. I dont even think spoon gives a certificate of authenticity....

I've seen "JASMA" stamped on some japanese parts, but didn't know what it stood for. That's something new I learned.
I've got a spoon n1 on order (not for an S) but I'll let you know what the mufflers look like (i'm figuring they'll have the same exterior).
