I'm looking for another S2000 to play with in St Louis.

I offered a local dealer 21 even for a black 01 with 30,000 miles. They are unwilling to go below 22,500 -- and I am not willing to go above 21 .... so it's a no go.

Am I wrong in thinking the 01's, now out of warranty with 30-40k miles are worth around 20-21?

You're probably right-on; I figure my 2001 with 16,000 miles is worth about $22,000. (Perfect condition).

The kelly blue book says $24k. But that seems a little high. I'll sell you my S2000 for $19,000. It's a black on black with 65,000 miles. Looks good though and has a 100,000 mile warranty from Honda. No mods except for red brake calipers, new speakers and amp and red honda emblems on the front and back.

It's all about location, here in Cali, they will sell usually a little higher. Toward that blue book value.

Used S2000s go for more than that at dealers around here, at least on the rare occasion a dealer has a used S2000. You probably could have gotten a little better deal in November, dealers may be feeling spring coming and getting greedy with convertibles.

St. louis is a tough town to deal with an S2k purchase. I looked for a while up there and had the same problem. There are almost none for sale privately and dealers want a fortune. Try looking in chicago; if you get an area owner to check it out for you, then you can book a 1 way ticket on southwest for under $50 and drive it back the same day.

Thanks munckee, sounds like a good idea.

Congrats on your car ImportSport. I am willing to pay a couple grand more for about half the miles -- but you did get a good deal from what I have seen.

I think the key here is that it was a dealer. I would definitely look around for private party sales.
