Default Faded Tailights - Warranty experiences...

My 00 S2K has faded tailights and has 71K on the ticker, I see an article in the library section regarding taillight replacement.

Should I bother going to the dealer to get them replaced or will I get denied since I am way out of warranty?

Also, just curious - I was wondering if AP2 taillights are a direct swap-in? They do look better IMHO/

Thanks!

There was a safty recall on these IIRC.

AP2 taillight require some cuting and rewiring.

If I was you, I would drop by the dealer and ask about getting them replaced under the recall.

They are REQUIRED by the recall to replace your tail lights for free. The faded tail lights are a safety hazard and do not comply with DOT regulations. Warranty does not come into play here.

Oh, thank you for the quick replies.

Rick - Do you have custom tailights in your avatar picture, btw?

Called the dealer. They are ordering new tailights and gaskets, I believe. Yay

Also, mentioned an outstanding spark plug gasket recall....I said OK - just do it as well

Mulder - That and the convertible top were done per their records. My rear plastic window is all yellow... I want to do a 02+ glass window top someday...
