f20 f22 ?
hey guys. i'm going to be purchasing my first s2000!!!
this one i'm looking at is a 2000 s2k with a 2005 f22 engine in it. i was wondering how i can make sure that this engine is actually the f22 so i dont' get a headache afterwards.
btw the car is 15000$
new brakes new clutch new tires and neuspeed exhaust 95,000 km
good deal?

i wouldn't pay a premium for an ap2 engine to be in an ap1 body. a non-factory install would negate any price difference. if he stroked it or swapped out the engine i'd be worried about the longevity of the engine.
currency converted from CAN to USD places this purchase price at $11800USD? is that correct? probably can get it elsewhere for $10000USD, the mileage is bull spit on this car as nothing can be trusted as accurate.

If you look on the engine block there should be a stamp right under the valve cover that will either say F20C or F22C. Also the F22 had a gold coilpack cover and F20's had a black one, but the covers are interchangable so the best way is still to check the block stamp.
Here's a pic to help you out. The stamp is circled in red and on the right side of the block if you stand infront of the car.

Are you talking about this car?

This car stood out to me because I thought it was odd that they'd put an AP2 engine in an AP1. Something smells fishy about it. I don't know many people who would put an AP2 engine in to an AP1. If anything most AP1 owners love the extra 1k rpm redline. The engines are very similar and the gains are minimal to pay all that money to make the switch. It's very possible that the car was in an accident or the original engine was over-reved. Buyer beware.
Also an 05 engine with 95,000km is a bit on the higher side to me. But the choice is yours, gl with your search.
