Default F1 Paddle shift

Given the nature of the high revving engine of the S2K, the quicker the shift, the quicker the acceleration. Not to mention I like to drive this car hard and it would be nice to keep my hands at 10 & 2.

I know most paddle shifters are sucky gimmicks, however, I have driven a Ferrari 360 F1 Syder, and I have to say when done right the F1 style shifters are brilliant! Since Honda has an F1 team, it might be nice to migrate the paddle shifting to the S2K.

Was the NSX ever paddle shift?

This may be a pointless thread in that it will never happen, but I just was curious of people's thoughts on the matter.

Honestly if there was no lag on up/downshifts and the shifts were smooth i wouldnt mind having one of those sequintial trannies. With socals traffic problems which keep getting worse year after year its getting harder to justify a manual as a daily driver.

the regular production nsx never came with paddle shifter. i would imagine the cost of adding a paddle shifter would be costly.

Quaife offers a sequential 6sp for 20K if you have that burning a hole in your pocket.

i think paddle shifting would get boring after a while regardless of how much faster and smoother it was. yea, i would be slower, but i love the feel of kicking that clutch pedal in and slamming through the gears.

OT - popeye, i musta stared at your sig for 5 minutes straight! that is one hell of a hypnosis device she has. who is she?

I've driven a BMW M3 with the sequential transmission. I have to say that I like the old fashion 6-spd, row the shifter, push the clutch form of driving. Much more fun to drive. If you like the latest in technology that's fine but I don't think paddle shifting brings much to the driving experience over the tried-and-true manual.

I agree about the joy of driving thing, but there are some obvious advantages. Thanks for the input. Now let's start a thread on Popeye's sig chick!

don't forget that most "paddle shifters" out there are shitty automatics.

if the paddle shifter is attached to a sequential tranny, then yes I want it.

if the paddle shifter is attached to an automatic tranny, I'll pass.

But in terms of shifters, the S2K is known to have one of the best feeling shifters out there. Why waste a good thing? It's not like the S2K is cumbersome to shift either, you can rip it through the gears faster than the average paddle shifter out there could.
