Check out Modifry's beeper as mentioned. It should solve your problems.

I have the beeper. I also have a datalogger whose display has programmable LED shift lights. On the track, the beeper is far more useful than the shift lights. If you are about show, get the shift lights. If you are about go, get the beeper. (Unless you are deaf, of course....)

I think if you can't be bothered to look at the tach that's already there (and which flashes red near the limiter), what good is a shift light going to do you? Check out the shift beeper, it's the best solution for functionality, safety and not making your car look like a box of Uncle Ben's

I think a Defi VSD Basis would be excellent for you. Its a tiny LED unit that displays a digital tachometer on your windshield, when you turn off the power, the display disapears.
