Extended warranty
Has anybody used Warranty Direct or 1Source Auto Warranty for an extended warranty plan? If so, please share your experience and opinion.
Thanks in advance.

I think most people use Honda for their warranty. it just makes more sense for the car. I would only use one of those "aftermarket" type places if the factory would not honor a warranty..... like if you bought a 5 year old jeep and for whatever reason, Jeep would not offer a warranty on something that old.
I did have an aftermarket warranty on a Typhoon and it worked, I used it, and I got to transfer it to the next owner... but it did cost $800 for 2 years....
Stick with the American Honda warranty...... just cancel it if you decide to sell the car... it is not worth transfering to the next person....

Not sure of the service of those two extended warranty companies you listed above, but I'm with Warranty Gold. I got a 7 year / 100,000 mile warranty on my S2000 that is Vortech Supercharged. Warranty Gold was the only extended warranty company that would allow me to have an aftermarket supercharger put on. They cover everything that is OEM, only thing they won't cover is the supercharger itself. I paid $1500 for the warranty back in December 2002...think the prices for extended warranties are way up there now.

I bought extend warranty for my past ride but i had no problem with my car till i sold it. So I don't think i will buy it again.
I will save it for repair funding.....

The only real benefit that I know of with buying the warranty while the car is new is that you get a free rental if the car decides to break and they need some time to fix it (like that #4 cylinder thing). Otherwise, I would personally wait until you are near the end of the factory warranty....the price difference is probably not that big of a difference, and you don't have the potential of wasting your $.
I bought a 2001 used with 6k miles on it from Steve2k.... he paid $995 for a 6 year 75000 mile warranty. I then paid $50 to transfer it to my name...... Honda sent me a letter stating that I could not ever transfer it or cancel it... you get one transfer and that is it.
I sold the car with 16k miles and got nothing!
Honda/ the Dealership made $995 + $50 for absolutely no benefit for me or Steve!!! I was not allowed to cancel or transfer and the car was only 2 years old with 16k miles!

My feeling is the aftermarket warranties are way better than getting a Honda one. With the Honda one, you have to take it to Honda, with an aftermarket one, you can take it to just about any shop you want.
Most aftermarket warranties are also transferable by just paying a small "transfer" fee. Some aftermarket warranties also cover "wear and tear" items such as piston rings.

I have a friend that is a finance consultant for Acura and he said that he could hook me up with a really good price for an extended warranty. Its the 7 year 100,000 miles warranty, my question is should I get it, but I plan on modding my car. I would really appreciate your guys advice.
Thanks, Aldwin
