Exhast Manifold Question
This morning I took my 94 Honda Civic in for an emissions test so I can get my tags. The emissions tech told me that they could not get a reading from my exhaust and that something is blocking the emissions from the exhaust. I know that my exhaust manifold is cracked, do you think that this could be the problem?

I had a similar problem with my old truck...........the pipe was rusted through upstream of the muffler and there was not enough exhaust getting to the end of the pipe where the reading was being taken........new exhaust pipe fixed it...................

I'm trying to look up the part, but I only see a header pipe, exhaust hanger, exhaust gasket, cat converter, muffler, and sports exhaust system. And I looking for the right part? Sorry for all of the questions.

"Exhaust Pipe" technically is any pipe in the "exhaust system" that is not the header, cat, resonator, muffler. But "exhaust pipe" has also been interchangeably used in place of "exhaust system". The e. "system" comprises of everything from the exhaust opening in the engine head right back to the exhaust tip at the back of the car.
If you say you know you have a cracked header (ie. manifold), you should begin there.

Thanks for the advice. I'm just being cheap becasue I don't want to have to put anymore money into my civic. It's my beater and I have pledged not to invest another penny into it. It has 225,000 miles and is in awful condition. If I have to spend another $300-$500 getting this repaired just to get an updated tag, then I will just get another beater with less miles.
