Exact redline for ap2?

Default Exact redline for ap2?

Hey guy's i was wondering if anybody knew the exact redline for the 2004 and up honda s2000's. was it 8,300 or was it straight 8000rpm?? thanks!

8000 is redline, 8200 is cutoff

sorry i'm a newb, but does that mean that we can rev to 8200 or 8000 and it stops...

You can rev up to 8199, if you get to 8200 it will cutoff. I think The redline is set to 8000, as in the tach turns red at 8000 so I guess Honda recommends shifting at 8000?

It means that you can rev to the fuel cut off. That's 8200 rpm. The redline itself officially starts at 8000 and the red area of the tachometer will be flashing at you when you cross that point. The added 200 rpm only amounts to about 1, maybe 2 mph so it's not worth worrying about.

The rev limiter is just there to save the engine. Redline comes very quickly, especially in the lower gears and especially for the inexperienced driver. I bounced it off the limiter many times when the car was newer. These days, it's rare that I get into it. Hope I didn't just jinx myself!

I agree, I was surprised at how quickly the RPM rises in the lower geras.
