yea it is most definately a show off kinda of scene (both greenwich and hamptons)
someone mentioned Honda in greenwich...that actually where I take my S to get serviced! I love to go there because as I am waiting for my car, I like to walk over to the two dealerships down the road with the Bentleys, Ferrari's, etc and drool.
but when i get back to my S and take off I remember how much I it

I think that Greenwich CT is a beautiful place. I love visting there and, no doubt that there are snobby a$$es there, but Ive never come across anyone that wasnt incredibly friendly to me.
I look forward to my next visit.

Greenwich was infamous for having a state beach but limiting access to locals only. The situation prompted director Michael Moore, on his short lived TV show 'TV Nation', to attempt to deliver a busload of undesirable city folk to the beach. Bus got turned around. Pretty funny episode. They ended up bringing them in on a boat & they swam to shore where police hassled them.

as well as the wanabee rich who frequent the bordybarn on sunday afternoons, or as the locals call it, the "bordibn" and then spell it out "b-o-r-dbn". Got to love those long island accents.
It is nowhere close to a "scene" nor does anyone pretend it is. If the damn place was in Suffolk is would be the exact same people having a great time outside on a sunday.

I usually go there a couple times a year and have a great time. I've never run into anyone unfriendly either.

the people along the coast in Southern CT make me laugh. If you ever want to see what yuppie USA looks like go there.
You want to talk about polar opposites? Greenwich and Bridgeport (except for St. Mary's in Bridgeport)
I agree about the snobs in Greenwich. My ex-girlfriend got a job right on "the avenue" in Greenwich and that's when our relationship went to hell (and why she is now my ex!) She got caught up in "the Greenwich Bubble" as I like to call it. Ugh...........the memories............
