evo to s2000?
#31
I've owned my 05 evo for almost 2 years now. About a year after sinking a boat load of money into it (with great success) I drove my friends S2k, which messed my head up bad.
It was like cheating on your girlfriend, then trying to not thinking about the other girl every time you're with here.
I decided to sell the Evo and buy my friends 02' s2k. Financially, and legally, it made more sense to enjoy driving without going waaaay over the speed limit or pulling 1g corners.
At least that

S2000 hands down is a far better car. It is going to be a more reliable car than the turbo because it is a turbo and we are talking about a honda here. Honda is known for its reliablity and the s2000 is insane straight from the factory, I'm sure the Evo is also but not nearly as fun as the S.

it's two different sport cars built with two different formula of fun, you can't say which is better since what's best for you isn't going to be the same for everyone, esp when you have two real performer in the rival.
s2k has it's share of little stuff, the top rattle, the rear bumper corner flares out, the paint defect on earlier car, the diff, clutch buzz, stalling issue, retainer, etc
i work on VW and DSM all the time, yes, some of the internet myth are true but it also alot to do with how the owner treats the car. if you have some 16 years old dumping clutch at 6 k awd style, nothing will last.
for the op: the evo is a much faster car in straight line, if you plan to trade it in for the s, make sure you can live with that.
one of the biggest problem with roadster is it's size, try stuff your back seat and trunk for a week, do not put anything or pick up more than one person each time. Sometime people can't just have a two seater just because they need to carry stuff for work/home/friend

as much as I love my S2000s, I won't say it's a hands down better car.....it's a different kind of car...

Go with your gut feeling.
First impressions are everything. Is the S2000 sexy and attractive at first glance. Yes. If you've got that down, move to the next step.
Get to know her more and you'll fall in love with what's inside. You'll see.
Pure and truly sports car fun in any position, one on one! haha.

Very few cars will have the "fun" factor of the S2000....but also, very few cars have the "fast" feel of a turbo car (high boost) as the EVO...the driveability, space and reliability of the EVO is great.
You will miss the torque and AWD...but that is that...the best thing to do is find yourself a suga' mama and have her buy you the S so you can have the best of both worlds....
