?European, Japanese, and American s2k?
I was wondering if there were major differences between the American S2000 and one in other parts of the world. I am in Switzerland for the summer and I called to check on the price of the S here in Europe and it is about 40,000 US dollars when converted from the local currency. The price in the US is 32,600 at MSRP. Are the cars different in some way that there should be such a large difference in price??

Prices are different around the world ... that's just the way it is. Here in Australia you'll need good $45,000 US to get an S2000 (and you still have to pay another $3,000 or so to get it on the road).
Look at somehting like an e46 M3 here and you need $80,000 US and $100,000+ US for a base model Porsche 911.
A lot of the 'cost' that you see on a car-sticker goes to the Government's pocket ... that is the case here and more then likely in Switzerland.

One major factor is the taxes on cars.
Normally, the listed prices in most other countries apart from the US, Canada and Japan are already fully tax inclusive!!
However, if you buy a car in the Netherlands (S2000 is currently about 47000 Euros, which converts to about 53000 US$ at this moment) it includes our 'modest' 42% CAR tax and on top of that subtotal comes our modest 19% sales tax. But that's all included, so the base price before tax is relatively cheap.
Oh, did I mention our gas is about US$ 4.89 a gallon???
