I think you've actually made my point for me.

I can and do compare the two.

I have a totally different feeling when it comes to BMW and their warranty (granted my opinion was formed a long time ago). My mother bought a new 5-series in 1984, and it turned out those "brilliant" german engineers didn't account for the difference in the amount of carbon in US gas compared to european fuel. To make a long story short, her car had frequent problems with carbon build-up. The damn engine should have been recalled and replaced, but instead BMW required the owner use a fuel additive at EVERY fill up. And did BMW pay for this additive? NO, owners were require to pay for their over-priced additive!! Furthermore they required that the engine have some "routine" maintanence done to clean remaining carbon deposits in the engine. This was required every 5,000 miles AND at the owner's expense (costing over $800 in 1980s dollars)!! NONE of this information was presented during the sale of the car -- probably because the 84s were the first year to have the problem, but BMW took responsibility for THEIR design flaw. BMW didn't do the right thing (or even close to it) in that situation, and that piss-poor treatment will probably keep me from ever owning one!

My 2 cents......I never worried about torque when I bought MY02.I was much more concerned about how it handled on the canyon roads than how fast it covered a 1/4 mile.So I agree if ya want torque buy a Firebird or Mustang because IMO we are talkin two different animals.

Honda has to do something next year.

The Dodge viper will have over 500 ft*lbs of torque and costs only $80,000. You would have to buy four S2000's to get that much torque, and you would spend about $50,000 more to get there.

I totally agree with the Honda warranty thing. They are absolutely crap here where I am at. I am afraid to take my car in to them. I have been there 7 times this last year and NONE of them were good experiences. I had one good one but that was when I took my car to the Bay area and had it serviced. I paid $32000 for my car and expect to at least get the same GREAT service I had with my old SS CAMARO.. WTF? That was chevy for gods sake. I absolutely love the car but almost gave it up due to the service I was getting from my local dealership. The BMW/AUDI/VW/Porsche dealer here is incredible.. Made me want to get rid of the S for an Audi or something.. Of course, my dumbass kept the S2k and got a WRX as well.. We will see how my Subaru Dealership is.. Maybe I will just try to take my S there as well.. hehe

Oh.. And the new viper is an S2000 in Dodge clothing.. Just a big one..

v6 garbage is typical muscle car garbage. "the car has no torque...lets slap a big block in her"... Remember this, and
I swear it should be Honda's slogan..."the only replacement for displacement is technology!"

Honda's appeal to a small breed of people. The ones who believe in technological advancements, and those who are open minded to change. many a muscle car buff has bought or driven an S2000, and has absolutely fallen in love. The car is what it is, and you either like it or hate it. Don't change it, and I think someone will back me up when I say it is a solid car as it is.
