Hmmm looking at their site, they will probably take it out to do the in use testing "Borrowing a customer owned vehicle for a period of time to physically evaluate the vehicle emissions or other performance."
Or possibly the Durability testing "Vehicle exposure to extreme conditions" hmm like doing donuts in an Albertson's parking lot or taking it for a few top speed runs in a desert????
There is no way in hell I would let them do that...I wouldn't let them use and abuse the hell out of my car for their fun and data resources for 2 weeks at the price of less than renting an economy car. Tell them to shove it and buy an s2000 for their research.

There is an EPA requirement that car manufactures do real world emission testing. Honda is paying third party engineering firms to conduct the tests. The compensation to owner is not enough to give up the car for two weeks. I would demand $500/wk plus $5/mile and pay for any damage to the car. If they do not agree with the demands, then tell them forget it.

If you do it, get the Modifry shift beeper. Set the rpm limit to 4k.

MichsS2K,

I got he same request a few days ago...only my car is an AP1 (2001). They want to test the emissions on a car with at least 50,000 miles. My car has far fewer than this so I'm no longer wanted, but I wouldn't let anyone touch my car under these conditions. By the way, they only offered me $200 for two weeks!! $200 for TWO WEEKS...don't they realize I live in So. Cal? You can't even cover two weeks of Starbucks here for $200

An engineering company contacted me a couple of years ago and asked to perform some testing on my Plymouth Voyger for about two hours. I said yes but only if they would perform the tested at my house while I watched. They had no problem with that. No way would I let them take my S2000 out of my view.

Think of it this way...how much is it to rent an S2000 for 2 weeks. I just recently rented an '05 Sebring last week at $99.00 per day. Not really knowing what the rate is per week that's about 2k for 2 weeks and they want to give you $500.00??????? I really wouldnt do it. Not only is it not enough money but you never know what they will do to it. What if something is not right when you get it back and they say "well it was like that when we got it." You would probably be SOL.

Even if this is legit, it's still stupid. Anyone who agrees to this is a dolt. You really don't gain much out of it.
