Engine smell---Anyone??

I would vehemently recommend against the steam cleaning. All the cars that I've seen with the engine cleaned that way either had blown gaskets/seals and had leaks everywhere, or electrical issues due to the heat and moisture combined.

I would recommend covering all electrical connectors/plugs first after your engine has been sitting for at least 2 hours. Then spraying degreaser all over the motor and hosing it down.

Blow the excess water out with pressurized air and wipe the motor down, uncover the electrical connectors and make sure that they're all completely dry. Run the motor a little bit to dry off the rest of the water and you're done.

If it smells nasty, you slipped the clutch too much.

If it smells electrical, it's the brakes.
