Engine missing - fixed in 5 minutes!

This is a very informative thread. Unfortunately, anyone has to deal with this problem. Can someone here post a picture of what the MAP sensor looks like on our engine?? Thanks for all of the knowledge that you guys/gals bring to the board

Ive driven stick (3 civics, a prelude, a boxster, and now the s2k) for a while and havent had this happen, so maybe the s2k is just more touchy... i dunno... anybody know what im talking about?

Holy cow!!! I've got that same problem!!! Damn, I thought my clutch work was just rusty since I've been driving an automatic for so long.
It's so infrequent that I thought my clutch release was too fast but now that you have mentioned it, I know for a fact that its the same problem that I have. The clincher is that it only occurred on 1st and 2nd gears -- exactly like yours!!!
This has happened around 3x already. The last time it happened was after I refueled with a different brand of gasoline. The first 2 was not fuel related. I'm guessing the last time was a recalibration of the ECU for the different gas. The previous 2 is just plain, DUH?
Kindly let me know, when you've found the culprit. Hopefully, its a quick fix like a faulty MAP sensor.

ChitownS2K and IS200,
I suspect that what you are describing isn't anything wrong with fuel or whatnot, but merely the nature of the car. I have felt this in my S2K, as I also did in my CRX before (yet not in a Prelude nor my Integra GSR).
I think it's just a combination of compression ratio, flywheel weight and vehicle weight making it very difficult or "touchy" right around the point where you go from engine braking to idling at low speeds.

Uh, guys?!? I know we all here love the S2000 up to a fault but the engine staggering or stumbling is by no means normal. There is something wrong with the car!!!
The car literally rocks you forward and back! It's not even subtle, it's a violent shake if you don't immediately depress the clutch. Applying gas only makes the rocking motion much worse. It's like driving an automatic where you use your left foot for braking while at the same time applying throttle with the right. It's stupid.
I don't care if this car has the most powerful NA engine in the world. Yeah, it's a blast to drive at high rpms. But it's not an excuse for a flywheel, compression ratio and vehicle weight imbalance.
Honda has to fix this.

In 6,000 miles I have had the map sensor problem maybe three times and not since the warmer months. I always let off the gas so never experienced bucking. I thought it must have been gas related but this board has convinced me of the correct diagnosis. If the problem returns with the warmer weather, I will have the map sensor replaced by the dealer. I love this board.
