Default Engine blown

a week ago right before I got home my car started knocking, I let it sit a while checked the oil and everything looked good. I called a fellow S2Ker and he thought is might be the timing chain tensioner.................

Took it to the dealer and said the engine is dead, you threw a rod. They said the oil levels look good and the oil is clean....Now comes the Honda care part, they have to tear down the engine for a inspector to come out and if he dosen't find anything then they will replace the engine.................pray for me.

I bought the car with 27k and now it has 50K. I had all the oil changes and maintenance done by the dealer.

Ahh, so *this* is what happens when you constantly beat on your car. Thanks for clearing that up.

If i did that at least I would have an explanation. just knowing you can be driving along and boom, this happens is disconcerning.

All my other cars were beaters that i never took care of......this car I do all the maintenance as scheduled and ........

after reading all the similar threads I may have to get something else, just a little shaken up right now.

That's what I'm worried about, I didn't know much about this car before I bought it, what I did learn I got from the Miata.net website and that was always talk about performance and the track. Once I got to S2KI.com I discovered all the technical stuff on how fickle this car is..................but like a fine woman you put up with fickle.

UPDATE, went to Honda to pick up my rental, service guy assured me(to the best that he could) how it looks to him, said the honda guy will come out and inspect to make sure the car wasn't beat up and that the dealership is not lying. He said you did all your maintenance here so it looks good.

My concern is hondacare is paying for a rental, then the 1100.00 dollar tear down of the engine. Why pay all that to then pay for a new engine.
