No boosts. To or from my stook.

I let it sit over the weekend. Drove the wife's car yesterday and today the problems are still there.

No mods. Not even speakers. OK, I lied. MG Racing 3-piece floor mats. I put them in Friday AM, must be them, huh? Then again, maybe I pulled a wire loose under the dash when I put them in? <Reaches for straws>

Seriously though, anyone have any ideas what it could be?

I've called both dealerships in my area and they both said "you'll have to leave it at least a day" if the problem is intermittent.

Well, it isn't. It's pretty regular as the car was running only 10 minutes when the driver's window pulled a Blair and dropped on its own.

I'm not too keen on leaving it there all day either as one of the symptoms is no odometer, meaning they could joy ride it all day for all I know. "We were testing it... yeah, that's it."

I can't exactly take the day off from work to "babysit" them either.

This could be just a weak battery, I've had problems w/ cars in the shop when the battery is very weak that causes tach, and instrument gauges to go nuts but I've never heard of a window going up and down. My guess would be in the auto window switch and not the motor.

Battery makes some sense. The car was parked for the better part of three weeks. Although I did drive it to and from work (100 miles round trip) Tues-Fri... hmm.

Still hoping there's a wet wiring harness somewhere. There was snow on the car from Sat night til this afternoon (8 inches to be exact). I know, its a sin, but I live in New England and don't have a garage...

Going to the dealer now to see if they can get any codes...

Resolution:

Water must have shorted some wires, most likely the window relay. That triggered the EPS light and speedo (not sure how), which in turn triggered the "Check engine" light.

Pulled the code and it was for "electronic speed sensor malfunction". Reset it and none of the symptoms have reappeared. Might have helped that the car had all day to dry off too.

The end.

and the "exact" solution was?

I've heard window motor and window relay...

is it both?

thanks!
Window mtr assembly needs replacement (specific sub-assembly malfunction is the "detect circuit")

Was there ever a Service Bulletin for this problem? I too have the problem of the window only going down 1 inch when the top is lowered. As with all repairs, one has to wonder if its worth letting the shop monkey around with the car. I've heard many a horror story. Does this problem ever get worse?

B, you check the link in my original post?
Don't think there is any Service Bulletin on this thing, we usually hear about them before it's wide spread with the dealers.

Can you say where the connections that are susceptible are located. I'm up for avoiding this problem if possible.
