This has been one of the sticking points of getting a 00 or 01 vs. 02 and up for me. I just like the increased visibility out the rear with the plastic window. I'm fairly confident that I'll be able to take care of it...especially since it will be garaged.

Aside from Meguiars, Honda also recommends 3M Plastic Cleaner & Polish (39017 and 39010 respectively) which I used to GREAT effect. (Service Bulletin 00-037)

My service reps said it takes a lot of force, and it did. I went through the procedure to little affect, then did it again using a lot more muscle for a crystal clear window!

(I had been using Plexus all along too..)

Anyway, they say this'll fix creased, clouded or scratched windows.

Forget that "greasy kid stuff" (Plexus). After you get the scratches out using Meguir's or whatever method you prefer, go directly to you Honda Parts Department and ask for Honda Pro Plastic Cleaner and Polish. Apply with one of those new microfiber towels. You will never go back to Plexus.

Someone in a different thread said Honda buffed his plastic window to get it clear and that is covered under the warranty. Does anyone else know if this is true? I'll let them mess with mine then.

There are several brands of plastic 'restorer's', if want to call them that, that will do a 'decent' job of restoring the plastic and removing many of the scratches.

Anyone use an orbital polisher to eliminate the elbow grease?

You can try it on the outside, but since it is soft plastic, I would be hesitant to. For the inside, I think your only choice is to do it by hand.

For simple "clouding" and minor scratches, any of the above products will work. However, if the plastic has become yellowed, there's probably nothing to be done. That's UV damage. In the extreme case, the window becomes an opaque yellow and may be brittle or cracked. (You've probably seen older Miatas with this problem.) To prevent this damage, use 303 Protectant after applying your polish of choice.
