Default ECU question

alright I know this is probably a really dumb question but I'm just curious and don't know enough about this stuff to know....so I'm asking you guys....what would be the outcome of taking an ECU from an '00-'03 S2k and putting it in an '04 S2k? I'm not gonna do it I'm just curious if its even possible or if its just some ridiculous thought of my imagination

thanks

The one thing that is certain is that your car won't start. Any ECU change(other than a JDM or Spoon/mugen, etc.) will require you to program your new ECU to work with your imoblizer system. This isn't cheap if I recall....

Dunno if it'll work RED... but programming a new ECU to your keys costed me about 40 bucks (.5 hours labor). You need to go back to the dealer and have them use a PGM scantool.

If I'm not mistaken, the MY04 is superior in 1 aspect over all the previous generation ECU's by leaning the AF ratios a bit more, which makes for better power, however things such as VTEC actuation and such will occur exactly as it would on MY01-03 cars, and the ignition timing maps would be different... possibly making things worse than normal. The rev limiter would be raised to 9000rpms as opposed to the 8000rpms your car is designed with. I know the extra 1k sounds good but it'll be the difference IMHO about whether your engine survives or not. The stress levels between 8000-9000 rpms are significantly different, it's not like comparing the stress levels between 2000-3000 rpms.
